Cat and Dog Imaging & Diagnostics in Laurel

Have you ever had stomach pain and didn’t know why? Or perhaps you had a lump that kept growing bigger and bigger. You may suspect an internal problem by the way you feel or look, and that’s when you have diagnostic tests done to determine the cause. Your pet’s body is just like yours. Internal issues can cause pain and discomfort, but unfortunately, your pet may not be able to communicate that to you. Regularly checking for discoloration, lumps, changes in eye clarity, or loss of fur or feathers can alert you of a problem. But even if your pet appears healthy on the outside, our cat and dog imaging and diagnostic services may show otherwise.

Diagnostic care is an important component of detecting problems early and guides us in treating illnesses and other conditions. If we suspect an internal problem, we are equipped to provide pets, including birds and exotic pets, with diagnostics here in Laurel. Our imaging and diagnostic equipment allows us to perform in-house x-ray, ultrasound and laboratory testing. With these in-house diagnostic capabilities, we can detect problems – or the risk of developing problems – faster and treat or prevent them more effectively. Call us at (301) 498-8387 to make an appointment today.

Radiography (X-rays) is one of the most commonly used diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine. It’s used to examine the heart, lungs, bones, abdominal organs, and other areas. Conditions that can be diagnosed using this technology include fractures, foreign bodies, and heart and lung problems.

Ultrasound & Endoscopy

Ultrasounds and (rigid) endoscopic procedures are used to diagnose disorders that can’t be shown using radiology, such as those related to the heart, liver, intestines, and kidneys. While we have the capability of doing ultrasound exams in-house, we often refer complicated cases to a local board-certified radiologist.

Laboratory Testing

Our in-house laboratory services allow for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. Commercial laboratories may be used for these tests and more specialized or complex diagnostics.

Lakeside Veterinary Center is committed to you and your pet. We understand the fear of the unknown; when your companion isn’t himself, and you can’t figure out why, it’s important to take action. That’s why we provide diagnostic services for all pets, including birds, reptiles, rabbits, and exotic mammals. If you suspect your pet may be experiencing an internal problem, please schedule a diagnostic appointment here in Laurel by calling (301) 498-8387.
